A cloudy cool morning provided great conditions for the more than 100 runners entered in the "Sound" of Running 5K Fun Run/Walk.  Under the sponsorship of Mrs. Larson, the South Valley Middle School chapter of National Junior Honor Society organized and ran the event as part of Platteville's Harvest Daze celebration.

The event saw runners from not only the local area, but Longmont, Erie, Loveland, Ft. Collins, and Greeley.  Supporters of the Weld Re-1 Community made the event possible and a great success.

Platteville residents, Tricha Pike and Lois Reitz, volunteered countless hours gathering donations organizing the event, and coordinating the event with the Town of Platteville.  A special thanks to the staff of SVMS for their participation in the event.

Generous donations from individuals in the Weld Re-1 community, the Town of Platteville,  and businesses such as  Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Noble Energy, and Synergy Resources Corporation helped us achieve our goal.  Proceeds from the event will be used to pay for a sound system in  the SVMS gym.  The SVMS gym is widely used by both the Weld Re-1 school district and the community of Platteville for sporting events such as volleyball, basketball, and wrestling.

We wish to extend our sincere "Thanks!" to all individuals that participated in the 5K event in one form or another.
